Time Lapse Technology Shows Quality In Action

By visually documenting a project’s progress from start to finish, we can determine the quality and timeliness of our construction. Time lapse technology helps us to see the transformation of a project in a matter of minutes. The time lapse occurs starting at slab placement and depicts the slab pour, steel erection, framing and finishes. Analyzing and assessing a completed project, such as a new retail store, helps us to gain perspective on what worked for this type of project in this certain area and also what we can improve on to get better.

This project consisted of building a new 22,000 square foot TJ Maxx in Bessemer, Alabama. It came with a few hurdles that we had to overcome. We had to demolish three vacant spaces of the existing shopping center which presented several challenges as there were key adjacent tenants that could not be disturbed by the construction. That is when great people skills and immense planning became key for our builders. The work that takes place in the time lapse occurred from the 1st week of September to the last week of November. At its peak action the job had 50 workers, which was crucial to have such involvement during this time as we were racing to complete the scope prior to the holiday sales in this shopping center.

The project took only 5 months to complete and turned into a successful retail store. The Nearen team enjoys a good construction hurdle and uses creative solutions to overcome obstacles. Watch this time lapse video to see how we completed this project!
